Mickey Pins

Hi!

When you go to Disney properties, they have a fun interactive activity that has been happening for a while now: Pin Trading.  Yes, it has to be Disney pins, but there are relatively inexpensive starter packs that you can purchase and then you are set to trade!  All Disney cast members in the parks, hotels, etc. have a lanyard around their neck to trade pins with.  You can also trade with other guests, but I've found them to be a little more picky.

Anyway, I have purchased and traded for pins for the last few trips and needed a way to display them.  I had to focus on just Mickey Logo style pins, or I'd be in real trouble with all the pins available!  They're SO pretty!!!

Michaels has these felt Mickeys

And rolls of self adhesive cork

So a combined them onto a piece of 14x14" board from a broken frame.  I used Automotive Goop.  Then brought it into Michaels to get a custom frame made with no glass.  This way I can continue to add pins and switch them around if I like.

Canada Quilt

I finally got some finished pictures of a Canada quilt I finished just before Christmas.  This is my first pieced quilt.  And of course I had to make it a large one....

So piecing started in the fall of 2016.

Once the blocks were created I needed to decide what order to place the blocks.

The pieced front was completed in the spring of 2017

Starting to work on the back in the fall of 2017.
And then off to be quilted by a fellow quilter with a long arm machine.  Thank you Shawna at Aba Daba Quilts!

And Voila!  A finished, and binded quilt, just in time for my sister to sleep under it in my guest room at Christmas!

 Hugs!

Asian Art

Hello!

I've been trying to keep up with my card exchanges on a Yahoo Group I belong called About Oriental Stamp Art.  The group sets up exchanges based on a theme and we join in on whichever we like.  We also have a birthday list that I have made a priority to send out to each who have listed their birthday this year.  Here are some samples:

Year of the Dog exchange (My Fave year as I was also born in this year!)

A layout is posted and we interpret it as we like.

Red, Green and Brown to be used on the card

This was my February birthday card, I believe

Another layout challenge

Till next time!

Quilts at the Art Gallery

I really have been remiss in posting, especially about my quilting.
I am SO loving my quilt classes and learning how to create something pretty as well as useful!
In December-January our local Art Gallery featured our Quilt guild's 25th Anniversary.  I submitted a couple of my first projects and to my shock, I was asked to borrow them for this exhibit!  These ladies I hang out with are so talented, it is a pleasure to learn from them!

Just a few of the wonderful pieces that were displayed...

And my humble work...

Busy Times

Well another year is well on its way.
I've been creating when I get a chance, learning to create a calming routine, quilting and connecting with friends and family.
I am still making cards at the Vintage Co-Op here in the Soo. and I'm combining jewellery with my cards.  'Cardlery', my husband calls it! LOL!
Rhonda sells beautiful pieces and some of them are pretty small!  So we thought putting them on a card, ready for gifting would be a great idea.  Pins, charms, earrings and even hair clips!

Let me know if you see something you like!

St. Patrick's Day and International Quilting Day!

Woohoo! Time for some green Quilts! LOL! Not often that these two days land on the same weekend. I finally finished one of my UFOs (unfinis...
