Love Is Life

Hey everyone!

This week at My Heart Pieces the challenge is 'Love is Life'.  I LOVED the expression of this little girl as she's playing in the rain. The saying I found from Digi Darla and it went perfect with this image.
The little girl is coloured with watercolour crayons and a waterbrush, then fussy cut.  The quote was printed on white so I used my Distress Inks to tone it down to blend with the printed paper panel.

And yes, another card was created...

I was trying to create a more layered and bright card.  Ended up with a busier card than I usually create...  The girl is coloured with watercolour crayons and a waterbush then cut out with Spellbinder's Petite Scalloped Circles Large.  I matted this with a circle cut printed purple paper.  I covered a 5x6.5" card with a piece of Recollections paper.  The colours were a bit bright, so I used Mrs. Grossman vellum circle stickers to the paper.  Then I ran some purple Michaels sheer ribbon and American Crafts circle printed ribbon down the right side.  I added three adhesive jewels from the dollar stor on the bottem left.  I wanted to add more dimention, so I coloured some Magenta chipoard swirls with Pickled Raspberry Distress Ink and a Bic white out pen.

Gelli Card

I'm taking a series of classes (Klasses as my girlfriend calls them) at Kinsa's Retreat just outside of Edmonton.  We are learning how to use a Gelli Plate with acrylic paints.  Layering primary colours and creating new colours.  Brings me right back to elementary when we used to play with paints and our fingers!  After an entire day of playing we came home with a pile of painted and coloured pages.  This is the first card I created with a sheet.  Actually this was the scrap sheet I rolled extra paint onto!
6x12 bazzill cardstock folded in half, then trimmed paper as the background.  I matted a cut piece from a tissue box that had the same colours.  I punched the birds from the same box and the mats with a CM punch.  Then I stamped a greeting and cut out the individual words.  This is not my usual style, but I like it!

Digi Darla Design Team Entry

So here is another attempt to join Digi Darla's Design team.  The challenge this week is Getting Sentimental - using a sentiment.  In the spring when we got rain, I used to go out with my umbrella and my walkman and DANCE!  I did hope no one was watching, as this was my way to relieve teenage stress and I would have DIED if anyone had seen me. (Then anyway... now I don't care if anyone sees me- I'm having fun!)

I used a digital image from My Heart Pieces called 'My Name is Happy'  and coloured her in with watercolour crayons and a waterbrush.  I then used Spellbinders Labels 23 to cut out the image and its mat.  I printed Digi Darla's image 'Dance and Pray' onto the scrap of paper I cleaned my waterbrush onto then cut it out and its mat with the same Spellbinder set.  I used a side from a tissue box layered onto a scalloped cut 6x12 piece of Bazzil cardstock folded in half.  I added a strip of blue mesh from my stash and 3 tear drop shaped drops by Recollections (Michaels brand) to accent the dancing in the rain theme! :)

Post Script:  Looks like they closed their challenge for this week early!  Oh well! I hope you enjoy the card anyways!  Hugs!

Thinking of You

Hello again!
This week at My Heart Pieces the challenge is 'Thinking of You'.  I chose the image 'Me & Snowman' as it really reminds me of when I'm with my friends.  I take TONS of photos and most of my friends reluctantly let me do this when we get together. :)

I am trying to include more layers in my work these days and this is one of my attempts.  I started with an 8.5x11" piece of green duplex card stock.  I cut a piece of winter themed printed acetate to fit the front by Creative Imaginations.  I wrapped the front right edge with Magenta Maruma green ribbon and dollar store snowman ribbon.  Held it in place with a snowflake metal clip.  then I adhered the acetate on top.  Used a large heart shaped slide holder to mat a quote from a Hot Off The Press booklet of quotes.  Then I printed my image, coloured it in with my SU! and CM metallic markers and matted it like the quote in silver.  Once the quote and image were attached to to the front of the card,  used the same snowman ribbon along the bottom of the card.  I cut out a silver tag from a recycled Christmas card, accented with silver string and added it to the bottom left of the card.

I am also going to enter this card in the Design Team Call for Digi Darla :)

For card #2, I loved the idea of a purple winter card, so I started with a 5x6.5" piece of textured cardstock adhered to a card front.  Added a Fancy Pants Design Journal Art Card at an angle, then a couple of strips of Ideology Film.  I printed out the image and coloured it in with Prismacolor pencils then I circle cut it.  I mounted the image onto a used DVD then onto the card front.  Finifhed it off with wrapping and tying some fibre that has purple, green, blue and yellow in it.

Sorry about the late post.  Having some tech issues with Blogger.  Very odd!
Talk with you soon!

Gettin' Girly

This week's challenge at My Heart Pieces is Gettin' Girly.  I used Priyanka's 'Eli' image.
I coloured her with watercolour crayons and a paint brush, accented with metallic markers then cut out with Spellbinders Label 2.  I matted it with Sizzix cardstock cut with the same labels.  Placed a 5x 6.5" printed pink cardstock on a card fron and then wrapped it with dollar store silver ribbon and Costco multi coloured daisy ribbon.  Placed my matted image on top then accented the bottem right corner with 'Thank You' staples.

Surprise!  More cards!
Coloured this image with my Prismacolor pencils, cut it out and matted it on a piece of pink metallic candy wrapper :)  Cut a 5x7.75" piece of magenta paper and wrapped a pink printed ribbon around it.  then a printed vinyl piece by KI Memories placed on top.  then I wrapped some pink fibres around it too.  Adhered my matted image, then decorated with a silk flower and button.  Placed it all on a folded an 8.5x11" piece of black duplex cardstock in half.

The last one I coloured with my SU! markers and cut it out with Spellbinders Small Octagon.  Matted it with silver foil cut out with Large Octagon.  Folded SU! cardstock in half to make a 4.5x5.75" card.  Cut a beige Bazzil matte 4.25x5.25", then CM paper cut to 4x5".  Wrapped a pink ribbon around the bottem of these two papers, threading heart charms along the way.  Placed this onto the green card, then adhered my matted coloured image.  Added 2 decorative clips at the top right with the words 'laugh' and 'dream'.

St. Patrick's Day and International Quilting Day!

Woohoo! Time for some green Quilts! LOL! Not often that these two days land on the same weekend. I finally finished one of my UFOs (unfinis...
